A project designed in collaboration with Site Architecture and guided by the dual objectives of the Department of Finance and Department of Education. Our involvement focused on delivering a highly technical and adaptable AV infrastructure that complements the architectural vision and functional versatility of the auditorium.
Sophisticated AV Integration: In this 700-seat contemporary auditorium, which caters to a wide range of performances including music, drama, and dance, as well as assemblies, lectures, and exams, our team installed cutting-edge AV systems. These systems include 270-degree rotatable wings, electrically adjustable acoustic ceiling baffles, and high-grade audio and lighting systems, all controlled via a user-friendly touchscreen interface. This allows non-technical staff to easily manage sophisticated presentations and rehearsals, ensuring that each event runs smoothly and professionally.
Tailored Technical Design: Our theatre consultants worked within the Secondary School Planning Guide to ensure that the AV design was not only state-of-the-art but also offered higher value for money when compared to similar projects. We identified key areas for AV integration and accessibility enhancements that significantly benefit the teaching staff and performers alike.
Seamless Architectural Synergy: The auditorium, planned at the processional axis’s terminus linking the Beasley Building through the school library, is a testament to the seamless integration of form and function. The external architecture reflects the dual nature of music—as both a rigorous discipline and an expressive art—mirroring this duality in its structural design and material palette.
Performance Flexibility: The auditorium’s design includes operable acoustic systems to cater to specific musical and drama acoustics, a stage sized for 100 cast performances, and an orchestra pit for a 30-piece orchestra. Our AV solutions support these features, allowing for a versatile performance environment that can adapt from a concert hall setting to a drama theatre with ease.
Innovative Material Use and Construction Efficiency: The construction strategy was executed in two stages, allowing immediate functionality with future enhancements planned for AV and lighting infrastructure. The materiality of the auditorium—ranging from the expressive precast concrete panels of the performance side to the dynamic and ethereal quality of the seating side—complements the high-tech installations we provided, ensuring that both the visual and auditory experiences are unparalleled.
At Technical Alliance, our work at the Perth Modern School Multipurpose Auditorium illustrates our commitment to pushing the boundaries of audiovisual technology in educational settings. By integrating sophisticated AV systems that enhance both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the auditorium, we ensure that each performance is not just seen and heard, but experienced at a whole new level of excellence.
