Rockingham is about to experience a transformation like never before. Encore, the latest venture by hospitality veteran and local music sensation Marc Kenly, is set to redefine the late-night scene in the suburb. With a $3 million renovation, Encore promises to offer a unique and upscale live entertainment experience, challenging the notion of Rockingham’s ‘non-existent’ nightlife.

The bar at Encore in Rockingham features over 300 bottles on the roof.

Formerly known as the city’s only nightclub space, the upstairs area of VAT 116 on Kent Street has undergone a remarkable transformation. The venue boasts a central stage capable of accommodating a nine-piece band, a cutting-edge sound system, and dynamic lighting to set the stage for an unforgettable night.

Encore separates itself from the previous nightclubs that occupied the space with a commitment to a different atmosphere and clientele. Marc Kenly emphasizes that Encore is not just a nightclub – it’s a live entertainment club. The venue targets a more mature demographic, offering an upmarket experience with booth seating, bottle service, and a spacious dance floor.

Marc Kenly envisions Encore as the catalyst for a nightlife renaissance in Rockingham. He acknowledges the current ‘sad’ state of local options and hopes that Encore will inspire others to invest in the area, ultimately reshaping its entertainment landscape. Despite the challenges, Kenly is optimistic about being the starting point for change, stating, “If we’re that start, then I’m happy to be a part of that.”

Encore aims to cater to diverse tastes, hosting everything from rock bands and country music to brass bands, drag shows, and magicians. With a 2 am closing time on Thursday to Saturday nights, Encore promises to bring life to Rockingham after midnight.

This promises not just a venue but the future of live music in Perth. The savvy operations team will orchestrate the lighting to perfection, ensuring a visual and auditory spectacle.
