Mater Dei College

Mater Dei College in Edgewater - a 7-12 school of around 1,060 students - is building Stage 9 of its campus: multipurpose teaching facilities with a new theatre at their heart. Technical Alliance is the project’s theatre consultant, engaged by Catholic Education Western Australia and working alongside Parry and Rosenthal Architects.

The whole arc of the discipline

This engagement runs the full consulting arc: brief development with the College’s executive on site, schematic design, design development, and the theatre and audiovisual specification and drawing set issued for tender. As tenders return, we assess the technical submissions - so the College’s decision-makers can compare offers on substance, not just price.

A theatre inside a teaching building

The room is planned to work in multiple modes - drama teaching by day, performance when the lights go down - which is exactly the kind of geometry that has to be decided on the drawings. Sightlines, staging and operability are being settled now, while they are still lines on paper.

Current engagement

The project is in delivery procurement through 2026. It sits alongside our other current theatre-consulting engagements at Piara Waters Senior High School and Como Secondary College - the same discipline we brought to Bob Hawke College and Perth Modern School.
