Feature lighting for both spans of the Mandurah Estuary Bridge Duplication Project on behalf of Georgiou and their client Main Roads Western Australia.
As part of this $148.8 million joint initiative between the Australian and Western Australian Governments, the bridge has been transformed into a night-time centerpiece for the Peel Region. The project involved the integration of programmable LED lighting system across the 380-metre structure, designed to illuminate the Mandurah skyline.
Key Features
- Programmable LED Architecture: Installation of 523 high-performance LED, allowing for dynamic colour-changing sequences and bespoke lighting displays for community events and holidays.
- High-Granularity Control: The system is managed via a control architecture featuring over 8,300 individual channels, enabling control over every section of the bridge’s profile.
- Marine-Grade Durability: Provision of specialised, IP-rated hardware engineered to withstand constant exposure to coastal salt spray, high winds, and the unique environmental conditions of the estuary.
- Public Safety: Integrated functional lighting along the new Principal Shared Path (PSP) and universal fishing platform, ensuring safe, high-visibility access for pedestrians and cyclists after sunset.
Sustainability
Beyond the aesthetic impact, the lighting infrastructure was designed with a focus on longevity and energy efficiency. The use of programmable LEDs significantly reduces power consumption compared to traditional systems, while the remote monitoring capabilities allow for proactive maintenance, ensuring the bridge remains a vibrant visual landmark.
