Bob Hawke College

Bob Hawke College’s performing arts spaces were planned the right way round: theatre first, technology in service of teaching. Our theatre team worked alongside HASSELL Architects from the planning stage, shaping spaces to the Secondary School Planning Guide while we designed the systems within them.

Decided on the drawings

Sightlines, focus and operability were decided on the drawings, not discovered on site. That is what theatre planning means in a school context: the room’s geometry, its rigging and its control positions all agreed before the first slab, so the technology never fights the architecture.

Built for teaching staff

The result is a fully integrated theatre and performing-arts technology package with touchscreen control built for teaching staff – accessible enough for a Year 8 drama class, capable enough for opening night.

Scope

Audiovisual consultation, theatre planning, integrated theatre systems and touchscreen control – the same discipline we brought to Perth Modern School’s auditorium.
