A Long-Awaited Milestone

The Morley-Ellenbrook line has had its share of challenges. Initially budgeted at $1.1 billion, it exceeded its costs by half a billion dollars and faced delays. Yet, the Government is keen to position the project as a key victory, both for public transport and as an election highlight, with the State poll looming on March 8, 2025.

A Game-Changer for the North-Eastern Suburbs

The completion of the Morley-Ellenbrook line is being hailed as a game-changer for Perth’s north-eastern suburbs, an area that has long been underserved by public transport. With the new line, daily commutes will become significantly easier for residents in these communities, allowing for better connections to the city and beyond.

A community celebration is planned for the official opening on December 8, offering locals a chance to explore the new stations and celebrate the project’s completion.

This rail extension is a critical part of the McGowan Government’s broader METRONET vision, which aims to transform Perth’s transport network and ensure it meets the needs of a growing population. Despite the political noise, for many residents, the real focus will be on the tangible benefits this new line delivers.
